Holds Refuge Ceremony

On February 20, Nantou Detention Center, in collaboration with the Fo Guang Shan Compassion Foundation, held the "Ksitigarbha Blessing and Three Jewels Refuge Ceremony." Presided over by Venerable Hui Long of Qingde Temple, the ceremony saw 108 inmates formally take refuge in Buddhism.

Director Huang Shengxiong encouraged the participants to cherish this opportunity, choose the right path, and embrace a brighter future. Venerable Yilai emphasized that Buddhism teaches repentance and rebirth, reminding inmates that everyone has the potential to transform their lives. He shared Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s 2025 blessing: "Move forward, and the path will open; light is within reach."

The ceremony included a repentance ritual and a Ksitigarbha water blessing, symbolizing spiritual purification. Each inmate received prayer beads as a reminder to uphold mindfulness and practice good deeds, kind words, and positive thoughts.

Nantou Detention Center actively promotes religious counseling, using Buddhist teachings to guide inmates toward self-reflection, discipline, and renewal. The center hopes this ceremony inspires them to face the past, cherish the present, and build a future with wisdom and courage.
