To embody the spirit of correctional institutions caring for the community and giving back to society, the Nantou Detention Center of the Agency of Corrections, Ministry of Justice, has actively promoted rehabilitation and the reintegration of inmates into society. In line with this mission, the center's Employee Consumer Cooperative has remained true to its commitment to public welfare by consistently supporting the educational needs of disadvantaged students in nearby schools.

Each year, the Nantou Detention Center Employee Consumer Cooperative allocates special funds from its public welfare budget to donate scholarships for underprivileged students at nearby Jiahe Elementary School and Nangang Junior High School. This year was no exception, with three scholarships awarded to each school. Each selected student received a grant of NT$2,000 to help alleviate financial difficulties and support their continued education.

This year’s donation was personally delivered by Cooperative Manager Mr. Lan Shih-Hsiung to both schools. The scholarships were received by Principal Mr. Chen Kuo-Chun of Nangang Junior High School and Principal Ms. Chen Hsiu-Ling of Jiahe Elementary School, who both expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the long-standing care and generosity shown by the Nantou Detention Center.

The Nantou Detention Center stated that it will continue to uphold the philosophy of “taking from society and giving back to society,” making good use of cooperative resources to invest in local charitable causes. Through meaningful actions and sincere concern, the center hopes to bring warmth to students in need and contribute more positive energy to society.
